Happy Birthday Empire State Building! What a sexy beast!

Today marks 95 years of the iconic Empire State Building. I’m not sure exactly what it is about this landmark skyscraper, but I just love it. How can you not? There is something about the Empire State Building that just kind of captures your imagination, makes you proud, and gives you an appreciation for days gone by and craftmanship, beauty… all that stuff. Happy birthday Empire State Building! We love ya!

Let’s start with a beauty pic and move on to other thoughts.

One Quarter of a mile… straight up. What a time to be alive. People in 1931 had to be blown away by this thing. The plane had just been invented a couple of years before. Motorized airplanes. Now this big, beautiful building? Shut up! The Depression was legit, but they had to be thinking that anything was possible if we just tried. Incredible time to watch insane leaps in technology. Had to be nuts.

And for the record: The Chrysler Building is 100% badass too. Love them both. And when they’re lit up at night? Fuggetaboutit. Outstanding!

Big shout out to all the dudes like this guy. Come on. Just the best.

Art Deco is my jam. If you’re going to build something? You can’t go wrong with Art Deco. It’s got beauty and optimism. That’s the Empire State Building. It’s a symbol of what we can do when we try. That’s America, baby!

They built it in one year and 45 days. Yowza. These dumbass grifters can’t even build a bridge now. Fire them all. They are frauds and charlatans.

Let’s not leave on that sour note. This is about what can be if we chose to do it. Happy Birthday Empire State Building. You’re beautiful and everybody loves ya. Except maybe not King Kong. He may have mixed feelings.

How can you not be impressed with Empire State Building? It is a symbol of American engineering and the hard work of thousands of men,and the fact that it was built during the Depression makes it even more inspiring. It even survived that furry troublemaker King Kong climbing all over it. LOL!
I am a Art Deco fanatic. I find it absolutely fascinating. Architectural wonders like the Chrysler Building ( William Van Alen) Rockefeller Center (Raymond Hood) are something to behold and should be appreciated.
The Empire State Building should stand as a testament that even in the bleakest of times, anything is possible. That’s what America is all about.

Am a huge fan of Art Deco too. Did you know that plane hit the Empire State building back in the day? A B-25 bomber smacked into it back in 1945. Crazy, right?

Holy smokes! I didn’t know that. There must have been dense fog in the area for the crew not to see that building. That’s crazy!

Yeah. I should have included that in the post. Doh! Oh well, live and learn, I guess.
