House of the Dragon season 3-episode 2 review: Things keep happening… but with dragons!

Hopefully you haven’t become too attached to these House of the Dragon episode reviews, because frankly, I can’t see theme becoming a ‘thing’. And that’s for a lot of reasons. First and foremost is I don’t care. That’s the problem with the show, and it became painfully obvious last night as I watched season 3, episode 2.

Here’s what happened: That one girl finally got to sit on the iron throne. How did she do that? She showed up with some dragons after that other girl told that one guy to fly away. He ended up getting stabbed. Some other dude got his head chopped off and now we’re being introduced to a bunch of other dudes whose names aren’t worth remembering.

I guess these events are supposed to be important. They sure don’t feel that way. Yes, the music swells and the camera moves are good. There’s lots of neat things to look at, but at the end of the show? I just don’t care. About any of it. The only part of the show that I look forward to is the “making of the episode” extras after the credits. This is where the writers, producers and stars pat themselves on the back for the very important and insightful job they think they’ve done. That’s hilarious to me. Lighten up, Francis.

Here’s the trailer for season 3 episode 3. Don’t think I’ll be reviewing it, but you never know. What does happen now? The one girl got what she wanted. Are we about to find out that running a kingdom is hard, bloody work where you can’t trust anyone? Ohhhhh that seems like something we haven’t seen before on HBO. Good luck with that!

It’s worth noting that I’m not blaming the actors. They are all doing their jobs to the best of their ability. This show is a great gig, and everyone has bills to pay.
