We’ve all just found out about the passing of Sam Neill. He was 78. It is sad news indeed. Mr. Neill seemed to have it all figured out. I truly mean that. The man appeared to have a work/life balance that would make anyone jealous. Successful actor? Yup. Farmer? Yup. Played the Ukulele. Had an easy laugh and didn’t seem to take himself too seriously. That’s a win. That’s the dream. A fantastic career as an actor and full life off camera as well. What else could you ask for? He did it. He did the thing. He truly lived.

Waking up to find out that Sam Neill had passed away was sad news indeed. After the initial shock, I thought “What a life”. Changing his name to Sam at 12 yrs old due to so many Nigels at his boarding school. He didn’t think Nigel Neill was a great name for an actor. Building a career in television and movies that brought him bigger roles in movies like The Hunt for Red October and playing Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park (a role he beat out Harrison Ford for),he was just as happy on his farm with animals that he named after his costars. The video with him and the always fun and interesting Jeff Goldblum is just priceless, along with the videos of him and his beloved duck and X post of him posing with his pig telling everyone to cheer up , show a man content with the simple things in life. I’d like to remember him that way. RIP Sam Neill.
I really think that guy had a fantastic life. Just hitting on all cylinders. Actor, farm, musician hobby. Just a well lived life. It’s a sad one for sure to hear about his passing.
