Sometimes, you just want to escape the bickering, bawling, and bashing back-and-forth of the world, not to mention that of the entertainment industry itself, which supposed to provide us some escape from it.

That’s why I love anime. It is the great escape for me with amazing animation visuals and fantastic storytelling. And there is admittedly some wonderful frustration-killing over-the-top butt-kicking.

Here are three upcoming teasers or trailers for anime series and movies to look forward to in 2027:

Ghost of Tsushima Legends

Coming to Crunchyroll next year is the official anime inspired by the beautiful first person samurai PlayStation game from 2020. If you can’t wait for then, you can still find the game on PlayStation 4 and Playstation 5.

Sakamoto Days Season 2

If you haven’t watched Season 1 of the manga adaption of Sakamoto Days on Netflix, go catch up. Retired assassin Taro Sakamoto is trying to live his best life as a happily married convenience store owner and dad. Not everybody else wants him to do that, and he finds himself having to clean up quite a few messes. Season 2 release date for January 2027 has been set, and it looks like it’s going to continue to be a blast. The manga is available everywhere, and it is a great read.

Solo Leveling: Beyond the System

Currently, the award winning runaway hit anime Solo Leveling is between seasons 2 and 3, with the third season likely not to come out until late 2027 or early 2028. Based on Webtoon, the story is set in a world where monstrous forces are a constant threat to humanity. They are kept at bay group of dungeon crawling hunters. Our main protagonist, Jiwoo, is the weakest level of hunter out there who got mauled, battered, bruised…and killed…on a routine quest. Yet, he comes back with a “system” allowing him a user interface with daily tasks and chances to “level up”. The series is so popular, a live action K-Drama is on its way, as well as this full length theatrical release bridging the gap between the second and third season. There’s no official date set, but it will be out before season 3. This means, look for it next year. In the meantime, there’s the manga and first two seasons to catch up on.

So, mark your calendars and set your alarms, because these are going to be some fun rides.
