Avengers: Doomsday – Trailer. Not really feeling this one.

Here we go. We finally got a trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. As is our usual agreement, we’ll present the trailer, so you can make up your own mind and then, I’ll share my thoughts. And as a gentle reminder, you should probably know that yes, I worked in Hollywood for many moons. So, there’s that. Here’s the clip.

Okay, let’s start: One the good news front? Thor isn’t an idiot, joke machine. That’s nice to see. On the bad news front, that line: “Something’s coming” is always meant to be creepy, but it’s so vague and overused that it’s really more cringe inducing now. This is the MCU. There’s no need to be vague unless you’re still doing reshoots and testing the movie. LOL

Another bad sign? Thor literally telling us he’s afraid. That’s kinda cringy too, from a writer’s perspective. But alas, it’s a trailer so, we’ll kind of give it a pass.

My overall thoughts? Avengers: Doomsday feels like a miss. I know it’s just a trailer and I know it’s fun to see all the people back in their roles. But when Captain America showed up? I felt nothing. Nada. Zip. Just like a waiter, bringing you another dessert after you already ate three or five. Maybe the next trailer is better. But right now? Avengers: Doomsday isn’t looking so great. The movie opens on December 18.
