It’s been a rough summer. Let’s just say that many of us fans were underwhelmed with Supergirl. I’ll just leave it at that as far as that project goes. Now we have a little bit of optimism brewing with the latest trailer for ‘Lanterns’ on HBOmax. Take a look at this and I’ll share my thoughts below.
Okay. Very quickly, here are my thoughts on the trailer. I was happy that this wasn’t loaded with jokes. A serious look for a DCU project is a welcome change of pace. It’s a drama, not a comedy. Someone needs to remind James Gunn of that on a daily basis. Next? The cast is good and the story just might be big enough too. It was a relief to see Sinestro. Now we at least have a legit villain. The previous trailers had way too much of ‘True Detective’ HBO season one rip-off vibe. This is by far the best trailer for HBO’s ‘Lanterns’. The series streams on August 18.
PS. It was great to hear the Green Lantern oath. Hat tip for that. I could quibble about what I think is the story arc for the show, but let’s see how this plays out. I’ll be nice. For now.
