Let’s take a moment to consider this new show from Disney Marvel, “VisionQuest”. We’ll watch the trailer and then I’ll follow up with my thoughts. Never fear, I’ll have my writer, producer cap on and I won’t just blast you with a knee jerk reaction. Deal? Good. Here’s the trailer for VisionQuest.

Now we can begin. We’ve all seen the trailer.

Now, I want to like VisionQuest. Really, I do. The cast is fantastic. Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader as Ultron is a good bet. Those guys could read a phone book, and it would be interesting. But that’s the rub. This show, VisionQuest is written by the people who did Wanda Vision and that was crap. Also, the people from Agatha All Along are involved. That, to me, is the kiss of death.

Here’s the plotline from IMDB. Ready? “Vision is faced with many challenges while trying to regain his memory and humanity.” Yup. That’s it. That’s not much to go on. So, you have basically a supercomputer (Vision) trying to figure out what it means to be human with another supercomputer guy (Ultron). Hmmm. And the people who thought Agatha All Along are behind it? I don’t have much hope.

This would either need to one of the smartest Sci-Fi shows ever, OR the most fun, irreverent and yet insightful shows. We’re talk Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy levels of smart and funny. I just don’t think the gang from Wanda Vision has it in them. Sorry. I’m gonna predict that VisionQuest will be a dud. As always, I hope I’m wrong. VisionQuest starts streaming on Disney Plus, October 14th.
