A music CD I ordered arrived Friday…and with it came the unexpected bonus of a “paper jet model” that tied in with the album’s concept design. By “paper model” I mean several printed sheets of airplane parts that result in a detailed stylized space jet. I had several things that needed to be done yesterday, but my creativity monster said “No. You’re making that jet plane.” And I did. It took me all day, but I did it, and it gave me a sense of accomplishment I really needed.
Sometimes, you just have to put your worries and pressing need to get every task done aside, and exercise your soul a bit with a creative project. Some people, however, take this yen to the next level.

“Performance art” sometimes conjures up the idea of psuedo intellectual abstract dribble, but in the hands of people with a sense of whimsy, it is terrific. Check out this little street performing pianist:

So, get creative!
It doesn’t matter if you share your project with the world, or just keep it on the shelf in your workspace. It’s something crazy and fun that didn’t exist before…and that makes our little corner of the world a better place.
Lisa,what a great article about creativity. It sure sounds like you had a fun time making that plane. I absolutely love to watch Chef artist Amaury Guichon’s videos. His work in chocolate is unbelievable. I’m a fan. I’m not really into cosplay ,but the sheer amount of work on these costumes is amazing. It just goes to show you that you don’t have to be rich or young to be fashionable as long as you know how you work it. Nature gives a huge abundance of materials that can used to create just about anything you can dream up in your mind. That performance artist video was so much fun and full of whimsy (you picked the perfect word to describe it). Love the eastern egg nods to Dolly Parton Tim Curry and Tim Cullen.
