Hey gang! Here’s the trailer for the HBO remake of Harry Potter. Take a look and then scroll down, because I just have a couple questions about this whole thing.
So, now is the part where I start with the question and it’s pretty much this: WHY? Why even do this show? It looks like a shot for shot remake. It would appear they have the same sets, costumes and all of it. It’s giving me an uncanny sense of deja vu. I don’t care for it.
This whole trailer looks like someone too the original Harry Potter movies and used AI to change the cast. It’s unsettling and again: I don’t care for it. It’s legit like a bad dream. What is the upside for this? How do you make money here if you’re HBO? Will people subscribe to see a slightly different cast do the exact same things in the exact same sets? It’s crazy to me.
(And it’s worth noting that I don’t blame the cast. They are just actors who are trying to make a living. They auditioned and someone gave them a job. My beef is with the suits who put the show together and write the checks)
You could almost cut between the original movies and this show. I sincerely don’t see any upside. Even financially. Is there a market for shot-by-shot remakes? If so, I call dibs on the OG Star Wars trilogy. What a waste of time and money for HBO. Harry Potter starts streaming Dec 25th. Or…. just watch the original movies, today. Same difference really.
