Resident Evil 8 is the newest installment in the Resident Evil series. It is a horrifyingly fun experience with a nice story and very intriguing gameplay. This review will be broken into two parts: story and gameplay. Each part will get a score out of five, then, by the power of addition, it will be added up to get a final score out of 10.
(I will keep the story portion spoiler free so you can enjoy it and all its twists and turns as much as I did!).
The story follows the events of Resident Evil 7, just a couple years later. Resident Evil 8 has a similar, rescue-mission type story, just a different setting. Resident Evil games usually have a decent story, nothing crazy, and this game does just that. However, the twists and turns give it a better feel. I would give the story a 3/5.
The gameplay and visuals are crazy good! First, the gameplay has a much more fast-paced feel to it compared to the slower Resident Evil 7. It takes a more Resident Evil 4 approach, and for those of you who haven’t played that, it’s more facing off against dozens of zombies while frantically trying to escape and grab ammo and items. It is more focused on gameplay than it is horror.
The visuals are insane! The graphics are some of the best I have seen in modern day gaming. I was surprised with 7’s graphics but they just keep on improving the visuals.
I give the gameplay and visuals a 5/5.
The Final Score: 8/10! No coincidence intended with the 8. In all seriousness, the game is great and for all you horror fans out there, I definitely recommend you play this one.
In other news, a Resident Evil 7 review will be coming soon, as well as a review of the remakes of 2 and 3.
