Flashback to 1987’s ‘Masters of the Universe’ Movie

Netflix is set to release Masters of the Universe: Revelation. So now is a great time to look back at the only live-action, big-screen adaptation of He-Man, which, of course, is Masters of the Universe (1987).

The He-Man animated series had ended in 1985 but Mattel thought they could still make money off the characters. Thus, this movie. Dolph Lundgren starred as He-Man and Frank Langella portrayed Skeletor. And Courtney Cox had one of her earlier acting roles.

The film wasn’t a smash hit and few would call it a masterpiece. Yet some people look back on it fondly. And it likely will receive some renewed attention with the forthcoming animated series from Netflix.
