On one level, you can dismiss this as a fun cover. Sure. However, it’s good. The band plays it straight. Zero tongue in cheek, winks at the camera. Know why? ‘Cause the song is that good. It just sounds that fucking good!
Big shoutout the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl. (His vocals are great BTW.) They may have started their disco album as lark, but this tune is so strong you have to do it justice. THAT is the power of the Bee Gees.
The brothers Gibb have suffered decades of abuse for the sin of being popular and different sounding. However, when you strip all that bullshit away you’re left with songs that are so fucking strong they can stand up to anything. That’s epic. That’s the power and the brilliance of the Bee Gees.
