The recent events in Afghanistan were shocking to put it mildly, but watching the Taliban overrun a country in a matter of days did serve a purpose: We all saw with our own two eyes that we have fools in charge. And worse than that? Confident fools. That should scare the piss outta you. Big time. There are few things more dangerous than confident idiots.
Just weeks before Afghanistan fell, our top military brass, one General Milley, was talking some serious smack: The Afghan security forces have the capacity and capabilities needed to fight and defend their country, and the United States will continue to support those forces.
That’s some super-confident shit. And he was WRONG! Dead wrong. Wrong on a level not seen in decades. Hopefully the guy gets fired. But for me, Gen. Milley is just the tip of the iceberg. We are surrounded by these confident idiots in the U.S. and nothing ever seems to happen when they fail on such a massive level. They don’t even apologize! They just act like it never happened and move on. Enough is enough.
Afghanistan is one thing. Our own country is another. We can only survive these confident idiots for so long. Then we’ll be living in our own Afghanistan. It will suck. We will be caught completely unaware and the confident idiots will just slink away. Trump-Russia collusion? For years we heard about that shit and half the population was terrified. And guess what? The idiots were wrong. Zero consequences. Journalist Sharyl Attkisson has compiled a list of media “mistakes” in the Trump era that will blow your mind. There are over 100!
But the confident idiots just carry on without a care in the world. Telling us what the “real” problems are. Telling is what “really” is going on and what we should “really” be concerned about. Are trans bathrooms and preferred pronouns really our nation’s big concerns? Is that really keeping you up at night? Or are confident idiots just shoring up their own political beliefs and shining a favorable light on politicians like AOC, Bernie Sanders, The Squad, etc. Politicians who are trying to move the country closer and closer to socialism.
Here’s the problem. Socialism sucks. It fails. Then people die. Tada! Why would we ever fuck around with a system like that? Why? Because the confident idiots, supported by other confident idiots, tell us that this time it’ll be different. Or it’s not really socialism. Well guess what? Screw them. What happens when they are wrong? They can slink away but people like you and me? We’re just fucked. The confident idiots hide in their beach houses and we have to endure the shit show. Nope. No thank you.
Because you can only keep reality at bay for so long. You can tell me over and over what you want to be real. You can even trick yourself into believing it is real! But sooner or later reality comes sweeping in like the Taliban through Kabul.
We gotta demand that these morons are held accountable. That’s the way out. When someone screws up like Gen. Milley did? They gotta go. They must be mocked and then fired. The media too. We need way more mockery of the confident idiots in “journalism.” And when they get it wrong? There has to be consequences.
This is worth noting as well. What we’re witnessing with the Taliban’s return to power is how it always goes. The people with guns, the people capable of violence are forcing their will upon the people without guns. This is what happens every time. Throughout history (and even today) the masses have been ruled by the group with weapons. It’s the brilliance of the 2nd Amendment. For the first time in history, the people govern themselves and can protect each other from tyranny. And for all the morons who think it can’t happen? Check out Afghanistan. The violent mob is back in power.
