Just finished reading an article on Breitbart about how now the Netflix CEO is saying he “screwed up” defending Dave Chappelle. It’s worth the read. Here’s my takeaway from the whole thing – Welcome to Hollywood.

This is what happens. Netflix got their specials from Dave Chappelle and now they’re probably done with him. Maybe he has a deal for a scripted series? Or a documentary? But probably not. Now Netflix needs to be careful in just how far they throw Dave Chappelle under the bus. They may want to work with him again. So it’s dicey.
However, the problem now for the streaming service is to make their other content creators happy. Or at least appear to have tried. In other words: Keep the workers happy. Try to say the right thing. Create the illusion of caring, because their work and effort is necessary right now and Chappelle’s isn’t. What would have been interesting is if Dave still owed a couple specials. Woooooo! Then we would have had a fight. A legit throw down about freedom of speech. THAT is what we need.
But Netflix is opting to punt. Welcome to Hollywood. You only have power when they need you.
