Madonna recently woke up to find out a thing or two about censorship on social media. The pop star posted some pics on Instagram, only to have them removed by the company due to…exposed nipples! Shock! So, she did what most people would do when faced with a silly rule: She reposted. Ha!

This time she covered the “offensive” nipple with a heart and added her own insight into nipples in pics. “I’m reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification….. The reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed. It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple. As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized. The nipple that nourishes the baby! . Can’t a mans nipple be experienced as erotic ??!! And what about a woman’s ass which is never censored anywhere…”
The logic is solid and we agree. It’s very odd. A woman’s nipple is taboo on Instagram and a dude’s isn’t. Butts are all good. No problem with full booty. It’s always odd what censors crack down on and we find the “women’s nipples are off limits” rule very odd.
So let’s lighten up Instagram. Nipples are fine. They aren’t exclusively erotic. ANY part of the body can be erotic. What about people who are turned on by ears? Shouldn’t we make those pics off limits? I’m being silly but you get my point.
So, I’m with Madonna on this one. Let’s free the nipple. The pics are below. Warning: Nipples are covered, but implied. HA!
