I’ll spare you the details but the Japanese attacked and killed thousands of Americans. It was shocking. Unthinkable. The nation was rocked and something had to be done. There it is. Something that no one thought would happen, happened. We seem to be very quick to forget just how bad human beings can be to each other. That’s the thing we can never forget. How many times do we need to be reminded of this? Again, and again evidently. The world and the people who inhabit it are very, very dangerous!
The Holocaust, September 11th, Rwanda, the list goes on and on! It’s sad and it’s frustrating at the same time. Over and over, we seem to be making the same mistake: Underestimating the capacity of human beings to do some really horrible things. It’s outrageous, really. When given the tools, people can do the worst things imaginable. It happens on a regular basis. That is the lesson. That is why people say, “Never Forget.” But we seem to be forgetful as all hell.
Right now, the Biden administration is in talks with Iran about nukes. Is there anyone who thinks a nuclear Iran is a good idea? Anyone? It’s absurd and we all know it. Are we destined to make this mistake again and again? To underestimate what kind of evil people can inflict on one another? It feels that way.
