You knew it was coming. As soon as you saw the picture of Notre Dame engulfed in flames, you knew they would rebuild it. Modernize it. And effectively ruin it. This is a heartbreaker. Why modernize the interior? What was broken? What needs redesigned? Nothing. That’s what. Put it back like it was the day before the fire and leave it alone. Nothing needs to be re-imagined.

Evidently the original plan for the re-design was even worse, with some critics calling plans for the cathedral a “Woke Disneyland.” This criticism resonated worldwide, and the design was scaled back.
This is the kind of thing that drives me bonkers. It’s so completely frustrating. I don’t want to go to France and see the reimagined Notre Dame of 2022. I want to see the Notre Dame that has stood for hundreds of years. Any attempt to modernize this beautiful space is nothing more than an insult.
