Hopefully you’re a reasonable person. You clicked on this wondering just what kind of snarky post is this gonna be? Well, good news, bad news. This isn’t going to be too much snark. It will probably lean way more to common sense. We’re going to talk about voting rights and what we think needs to be done.
Right now, the Dems are making a big push for some big new voting rights bill which pretty much would federalize all elections. Do you think that’s a good idea? For real. You’ve seen the federal response to Covid. It’s not going spectacularly well. I would consider New York to be a good example of the fed response and Florida to would be more states’ rights. Let’s just say no one is leaving Florida for New York. The fed doesn’t know what’s best. But let’s move on.
The Dems say this is about making sure everyone can vote. Okay… have you ever met or even seen a person in the US that wasn’t allowed to vote? I’m talking recent history. I have legit NEVER encountered a single soul who was denied the right to vote. This is a part that the real head scratcher. Who are the dems supposed to be protecting? People who can’t vote? Where are they? It would carry a lot more weight if these people exsisted.
Here’s the real problem: No one trusts the outcome of elections. On either side. The whole process has become a murky mess. What we really need is a completely transparent voting process. Old school. Like super old school. I’m talking show your ID so you can vote. Paper ballot. Dems and Republicans have reps for the count. Hell, I’d personally like the purple dye on the thumb to vote! Mail in ballots for the sick, elderly and military overseas. That’s it. Completely transparent.
If you lose? You lose. If you win? The other side needs to accept it. One hundred percent on the up and up. This is a wildly popular idea amongst American citizens. It would do wonders for our country. This is the way forward. And we all need to be screaming it from the rafters.
