This one came as a shock. Bruce Willis family announced the actor was retiring from acting after being diagnosed with Aphasia. So, what’s Aphasia?
Aphasia is a condition that robs you of the ability to communicate. It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written.
Aphasia typically occurs suddenly after a stroke or a head injury. But it can also come on gradually from a slow-growing brain tumor or a disease that causes progressive, permanent damage (degenerative). The severity of aphasia depends on a number of conditions, including the cause and the extent of the brain damage.
We’ll leave any kind of speculation out of this piece and focus on Mr. Willis and his acting career. Dude is legit. An understated style that somehow always drew you in. It’s hard to think of a role where he was larger than life. Any part where he was an over-the-top stereotype. He couldn’t help but look cool in everything he did. From Moonlighting on TV to the reboot of G.I. Joe! Dude was just cool. We’re sincerely bummed to hear about his retirement. Let’s hope a new treatment is developed and we get another Die Hard. I would totally dig that. Think we all would.
