We’re amazed but not surprised. Amazon finally released a trailer of sorts for their ‘Rings of Power’ series and Tolkien fans let their voices be heard. The ratio on the trailer is incredible! YouTube has hidden the number of dislikes, but several content creators have the Plug-in and can see the results. It’s fantastic. As of last night, the trailer had millions of views, only a few thousand ‘likes’ and the ‘dislike’ were well over one hundred thousand! It is so immensely satisfying as a Tolkien fan to see the community step up in such a major way!

The fans of Tolkien know that this is it. The writings of JRR Tolkien are our Helms deep. It’s a rallying point for the defense of something that needs protecting. Tolkien was adamant about how he felt about adaptations. Let’s just say he wasn’t a fan. He was steadfast in protecting his work from people who didn’t know where the core of the original lies. (There are tons of juicy Tolkien quotes in the video below) I can think of no author who was so abundantly clear about his work not being twisted into something gross. I can also think of no other fanbase that understands the importance of defending something truly good. Tolkien fans are the best. Hold the line!
