We all remember the ‘Ministry of Truth’. The Disinformation Board that was proposed by the Dept. of Homeland Security. They thought it would be a good idea to have a blatantly partisan person head up a little council with the might of the federal government behind it to decide what was and wasn’t ‘misinformation’. The notion was right out of Orwell’s 1984 and people (correctly) flipped out. Well, we have some good news and some bad news. Good news: The Board is officially gone! Bad news: The DHS still plans on continuing to …address threat streams that undermine the security of our country… Huh… sooo… no board, but the work continues. Gotcha. That’s shady as fuck.

Here’s a paragraph from the DHS website: “With the HSAC recommendations as a guide, the Department will continue to address threat streams that undermine the security of our country consistent with the law, while upholding the privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties of the American people and promoting transparency in our work.” Just FYI, the HSAC is the Homeland Security Advisory Council… the council that advises the dept of Homeland Security… which is led by people who need advice… about homeland security. Huh… Seems a bit redundant, but oh well.

The big takeaway is that they will still be doing the same shady shit as before but now there’s no board. Tada! Oh! They also will promote transparency in their work. Like what? Pretending to stop doing a thing by publicly saying the board is gone while still continuing? That kind of transparency? How about this instead? Nope. Let’s completely re-evaluate the DHS and their role in any of this shit. And how they do things like outsource the work and censor people who just voiced their opinion online. All under the guise of ‘Cyber Security’.
