Why “House of the Dragon” beats “Rings of Power”

This is the debate that will be raging on the Internet. If you haven’t had this talk yet, it’s coming. Which show is better: House of the Dragon or Rings of Power. It’s a conversation that can be a little fun, but honestly, it’s over already. HBO has already won. It wasn’t even close. How did they win? In a word: Expectations. It’s that simple.

House of the Dragon can only exceed fans expectations. Rings of Power can only keep disappointing. The 2 shows have very different track records. Everyone was pissed about how Game of Thrones ended so, expectations of fans are pretty low. Everyone loved Lord of the Rings and were at least happy (ish) with the Hobbit movies, so expectations are high. Rings of Power can only disappoint. Which they are. It is an epic fail on behalf of Amazon. The cast shitting all over the fans. The showrunners firing Tolkien expert Tom Shippey. Tolkien lovers the world over being called racist. In a nutshell, they fucked up. Almost every frame of Rings of Power is a letdown. On the other hand, as much as House of Dragon lacks the magic of G.O.T. it still surprises. In a good way. Also? The cast, showrunners and HBO execs don’t go out of their way to shit on the fans. Which show would you watch? Right? Congrats House of the Dragon. You already won.
