Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the 19th Call of Duty release) has recently released Warzone 2.0 & their new Tarkov-inspired Free-to-Play mode: the DMZ. Warzone 2.0 is a re-release strictly for Activision to bolster in-game transaction sales with minor gameplay changes that don’t affect the overall traditional Battle Royale experience of move-to-place loot-shoot-die. The only new mechanics are that the storm now splits into two seperate radiuses and the post death Gulag is 2 v 2 instead of 1 v 1.
The DMZ, however, is a totally different story. It’s the same map as Warzone, repopulated with objectives, hostages, and entire armies of AI fodder to take down. DMZ matches hold as many people as Warzone: a monstrous ~150 players per match. Moving around the desert city claiming spoils with your squad is, in my opinion, leagues better than just waiting to die to a moving circle. And if you die with your guns in the DMZ, they aren’t coming back. Legitimate risk ups the fear factor and thus the fun factor.
TLDR; Warzone is warzone. The DMZ is what you should be playing. All of this for the low low price of FREE!
