We’re back! It’s the new year and we hope you all had a great two weeks of family, reflection, fun and maybe some strong eggnog.

We’re just one week into the new year and we can already see it’s gonna be just a meme rich environment as 2022 was.

We started with former Republican and more importantly, former Congressman Adam Kinzinger passing his audition and getting the coveted Republican-who-says-everything-Democrats-do seat at CNN. The Weepingly Principled Hero of the January 6 Hearing/Media Extravaganza dazzled and impressed.

Amazing how news outlets only seem to employ these types. And by “amazing” I mean “toilet-flushing sound effect”

But the real show of the week was the battle for the House Speaker job. With a new GOP majority! Democrats and the media (BIRM) were quick to cry “chaos” as two factions angled for the spot and leverage in exchange for support. This played out in repeated votes where Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the presumed winner got close to the golden ring only to have it snatched away.

It was the beginning of a long, long slog.

Let’s take a brief intermission

Through it all, plenty of Congresspeople showed us who they are.

But in the end, Kevin McCarthy fully transitioned to House Majority Speaker.
