Had to watch this trailer for Shazam! Fury Of The Gods. Twice before I could really make up my mind. This flick could be a pleasant surprise. I fully expected the sequel to blow. Just being honest. The first movie, Shazam! was a lot of fun! Not the biggest budget or the best CGI however the script was strong, and Zachary Levi really came through with an outstanding performance. Here’s the problem: The producers had kind of painted themsleves into a corner at the end of the film by giving all of Billy Batson/Shazam’s friends powers. The 3rd act of the film was like an episode of Power Rangers. I have zero interest in an entire movie like that. And it looked like that’s what we were going to get with Shazam! Fury Of The Gods. But thankfully, upon further review of the trailer, it would at least appear as though all Shazam’s bud lose thier powers, leaving our hero all alone to face the impending doom. As it should be. Good. If that’s the case? This flick has a shot to be a much-needed bright spot in very bad run for DC and WB. We will all find out when Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on March 17.
