Oh, boy. That’s gonna leave a mark. The Mandalorian season 3 just got crushed by Nerdrotic in this video review. Just absolutely destroyed. And here’s the thing: He’s not wrong. He’s hilariously correct. I say this as a Star Wars fan. It’s bad. The Mandalorian is just not good. I want it to be good. Really, I do. It would be fantastic to have something in the Star Wars universe to hang your hat on beyond ‘Andor’. Sadly, that’s not the case. Disney Star Wars seems hell bent on fucking up every opportunity that comes their way. (Andor being the exception. Legit think that show just flew under the radar at Disney for season one. Let’s see what happens when the execs. get their hands on it for season 2) So, what is going wrong with these Star Wars shows? Especially The Mandalorian. Too many cooks in the kitchen? That’s probably the biggest hurdle. There is no vision. No overall tone. The Mandalorian is a fucked up hodge-podge of moments, strung together with side quest bullshit filler, that mean nothing to anyone who isn’t’ running a Star Wars YouTube channel. It’s a bummer. We were told we’d get a show about a hardcore bounty hunter ala Clint Eastwood’s ‘the man with no name’ and we got a guy in a helmet that does whatever the execs tell him too. The show is nothing. It is all smoke and mirrors. A collage of head scratching, bullshit decisions and pseudo story beats that add up to almost nothing. The amazing thing is it’s lasted this long! That’s how strong the support is for something, anything, to be good with Star Wars. How much longer can Disney limp along with level of storytelling? The Mandalorian is a giant letdown. It deserves all the crap reviews. And for the record. NONE of this is the fault of the cast. The actors have all done a fine job. The Mandalorian actors are trapped in a poorly written and produced garbage dump. Just saying. Oh! One more thing: I would love to see a writers first draft of a Mandalorian script. That would be very telling. Is there a wonderful script before it gets notes from the execs? Or is it shit from jump street? That would be interesting to find out, to say the least.
