The frontman for the band Smash Mouth passed today. Steve Harwell was 56. The singer died in his Idaho home surrounded by family and friends. Smash Mouth’s rep said Harwell was in the final stages of liver failure and had been in hospice care. It’s a bummer. Harwell had struggled with health issues for years and now he’s gone. Dude leaves quite the legacy though. Smash Mouth had plenty of hits and Harwell’s distinctive voice is a huge part of the band’s success. Many only know the band from the Shrek movies. But I am here to tell you right now, once upon a time, a song called “Walking on the Sun” would come on the radio and you would fucking crank it up. That tune is still an all-time jam. We’re sorry that Steve Harwell is gone. But the music just keeps going. Thanks man.
