It is officially Christmas week, and if you need to get into the old fashioned spirit, bust out some good old Bing Crosby and friends.
Love or hate Christmas carols, it is hard not to get warm fuzzies when Bing begins to croon, and he has been in good company for decades.
This year, the Bing Crosby estate reached out to V of BTS (Kim Tae-hyung) for a special new remix of “White Christmas”, and it is beautiful. The dog in the video, buy the way is V’s pet Yeotan, who sadly passed away not long before the video was released.
In 1977, Bing did another famous Christmas duet, that we never would have expected would be a Christmas mainstay. The early mashup of “Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy” with David Bowie on his Christmas special is now iconic. I was 7 when this aired and remember seeing it when it first came out.
Bing wasn’t immune to scandal, and he wasn’t by any means a perfect person, yet you can’t deny his voice was one-of-a-kind. His “Mele Kalikimaka” with Andrew Sisters is still a great pick!
Of course, everyone knows his “White Christmas” with the amazing Danny Kaye will always be classic.

Bing was a legend for a good reason. It was great seeing Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” up on the big screen recently. (The Bluray release is great, the 4k one wasn’t restored and looks worse than the Bluray, just an FYI.)
