Remembering Jimmy Carter. The nice guy ex-president.

Former president Jimmy Carter passed away at the age of 100. Let’s take a look at Jimmy’s life and legacy. Mr. Carter was President from 1977 to 1981. His presidency by all accounts was awful, but evidently, he was a very nice guy. That’s the short version of Carter’s legacy, but we can’t leave it there. Here’s a bit of a deeper dive in the Carter years.

America kinda sucked in the late 70’s. Just going to be honest here. That whole time period blew. Unless you’re talking about pop culture. Movies like Star Wars were coming out and the music scene was pretty fantastic. But as for day-to-day stuff like inflation and gasoline prices? Apparently, it really, really sucked. Was all of it Jimmy Carter’s fault? Nah. He had to have had help, right? But before they run out an change the man’s Wikipedia page, just know that as president? The guy was in way over his head. But… he was a really nice person.

Here’s a few of Jimmy Carters accomplishments as president.

There was more, like the debacle in Iran… But Carter was a very nice guy.

Did we mention he was known for being a very nice guy? Because he was. Super nice.

So, as we remember Jimmy Carter, let’s not dwell on his presidency like some others…

Let’s instead remember Jimmy Carter a nice guy. He was the first ex- president to live to be 100. He was a nice guy who finished last.

And let’s not overlook this one.

It feels like you’re trying to argue that calling Carter “nice” is a superficial compliment that ignores his real actions and effects. That feels like a massive oversimplification of the enormously impactful philanthropic work he was responsible for post-presidency. The Carter Center decreased the incidence of the Guinea worm from millions of cases worldwide in the 80s to almost zero today. Furthermore, the center’s been involved in disease treatment, human rights advocacy, and conflict mediation in 80 countries around the world. People don’t like Carter because he was a sweet guy; they like him because of his massive global impact that goes well beyond his presidency.
