Well, what have we here? It’s being reported that the Sonic movie franchise just passed the one-billion-dollar mark at the box office. That’s a big deal. So, how did they do that? How did 3 Sonic movies make over a billion bucks? What’s the secret? It’s simple really.
The writers and producers didn’t take a giant dump on the source material. And here’s a shocker: They listened to the fans. Remember when the first Sonic movie was announced? They showed a picture of Sonic that was… not good. Not good at all. And the fans let the studio know what they thought: It was crap.
Whoever dug in their heels and went with a design for Sonic deserves a raise. And if it was all a clever marketing ploy to make it seem like they listened to the fans, and never had any intention of releasing the ‘creepy’ Sonic in the first place? They also would deserve a raise. My point is this: They gave Sonic fans what they wanted.
Lastly? I haven’t heard one peep about any of the Sonic movies being “woke”. Diverse? Sure. Woke? Nope. Evidently the Sonic movies feature a talented cast and entertaining stories. What?! Could making massive amounts of money in movies be that simple? Respecting the source material, the fans and entertaining them without a lecture? Huh. Who knew? Sonic, that’s who.
