Witcher: Sirens of The Deep – Trailer. Netflix is on thin ice with this one.

Here’s the trailer for Witcher: Sirens of The Deep from Netflix. Go ahead and give it a look. I imagine you’re a Witcher fan and that’s why you’re here. Or maybe you want to know why I put ‘Netflix is on thin ice’ with this one in the title. I shall explain. It’s all so incredibly frustrating. NOW they want to give us a Witcher story? A cartoon? What happens if this is a hit? But I get ahead of myself.

First of all, it’s based on a short story by Andrzej Sapkowski. You’d think that would be a relief, right? Only if they stay true to the source material. That seems to be the rub with Netflix. They can’t honor the original idea of the Witcher. So, let’s say they do knock it out of the park with Sirens of The Deep. Then what? I can guarantee you that some exec at Netflix will attribute the success to the animation part. I tell you with complete certainty that this will be the case. And we’ll see another quickly produced Witcher cartoon.

If Witcher: Sirens of The Deep succeeds it’s because they stayed true to the source material. That’s all we can ever ask for. It’s not about anime. It’s about story telling. Let’s get that clear right now. Netflix, you can always do a live action Witcher project that stays true to the source material… you know that right? This project just got me upset about the series fiasco all over again. All I can think about is: Why didn’t they do this in the first place?! Anyway, here’s the trailer. Witcher: Sirens of The Deep starts streaming Feb. 11.
