Kathleen Kennedy reportedly stepping down from Disney Lucasfilm. Who’s next for the job?

Here we go. Again. There are tons of reports that Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down as president of Disney’s Lucasfilm. The only reason that I’m going to post about it, is that the Hollywood Report covered it.

So, let’s pretend we haven’t been down this road before. Let’s say Kathleen does step away. Who next in line?

Oof. Feige is in the middle of the death throes of Marvel and Filoni was key in the horribly written Ahsoka and that space lesbian witch’s debacle.

Here’s a name worth talking about. Someone who should be in the mix: Tony Gilroy. Rogue One, Andor. The Bourne trilogy. That dude.

Here’s why I like Gilroy. He understands story. That’s it. Sure, he seems to be drawn to gritty, realistic, action and Star Wars is a fable. A fairy tale if you will. Good guys win, bad guys lose. But at least we’d get Star Wars movies that made sense and had some drama. So, let’s add Gilroy’s name to the list of possibilities of Kathleen Kennedy’s replacement at Disney Lucasfilm. Oh… and one more: George Lucas. A guy can dream, can’t he?
