Sly Stone passed away yesterday. He was 82 years old. If you have beating heart and a soul, you know what this guy’s music means. I’ll post a couple tracks below. There is just something about Sly and the Family Stone music that is truly timeless. Maybe it’s the groove or the optimism. Maybe it’s the melody and the melancholy. I really don’t want to examine it that closely. All I know is this: Sly Stone made some fantastic music. Songs that legit sound as good today as the day they were released. Songs that get you moving. It’s an incredible thing. We’re lucky to have the music of Sly Stone.

Everyone has their demons that they wrestle with. We all do. Sly Stone had his. He also had an incredible musical talent that will live on forever. They will be jamming to Sly and the Family Stone on Mars! Rest in Peace.
