Welcome back to the wonderful world of advertising. For the longest it time it was a place that didn’t make a lot of sense. Companies were going out of their way to hurt themselves. Jaguar? Bud Light? Things are bleak for them now after a misstep or two. I’m being nice. However, American Eagle and Sydney Sweeny just did a very smart thing. A return to the basics of ads. Observe.
What in the world was that? Why if I didn’t know better I would thing that was an attractive young lady working on a classic American car! But it was more, wasn’t it? It was a beacon of hope in woke weary world. It was sexy. And that should sell jeans. Let’s hope it still does. If it doesn’t? We’re not going to make it as a species. Sydney Sweeny is a smoke show. Now she’s the face of American Eagle. Let’s hope it’s an insanely successful campaign. More would be fantastic.
