Back to school is underway! Whether you’re a stay-at-home parent who is excited for the daytime silence. Or tearful to send your little one off for another annual reminder that your kids just won’t stop growing up. What better time to throwback to the era of Lisa Frank school supplies that just about every girl in the 80s and 90s toted around the school halls.
Growing up in the late 80s and 90s I too had to have Lisa Frank school supplies, merely because the colors were oh so vibrant and I absolutely loved anything neon. And dogs. The dog designs were rad. I happen to still have this trusty folder that I once used to display a science fair project in the 5th grade.
A project I got first place for I might add. The project? How my dog preferred her dog food. A project only a 5th grade girl could get away with. But the Scientific Method never fails and I followed it to a T.
The Collection
The Lisa Frank collection was extensive. We were sporting Trapper Keepers, folders, pencils, pencil cases, backpacks, stickers, lunch boxes, you name it. Lisa Frank stickers on Lisa Frank binders. We did it all.
Vintage
You can still find vintage items for sale on eBay if you are in the need for some retro pieces for a party or just for when you are feeling a bit nostalgic.
Seven-hundred dollars for a sweater, however. That better be one helluva party! When brands make a comeback, some of us girls just bust out the things we have kept in the back of the closet for over 20 years.
Modern Day
Lisa Frank reemerged several years ago with various brand crossovers. Crocs, BTS, Friends (the TV show), and Orly Beauty to name a few. Merch is still available online today. Slightly modernized of course. You can now buy cell phone and laptop cases, smartwatch bands, wallets, bags, and even shoes. And let’s not forget the makeup line!
I feel modern-day Lisa Frank is more for the die-hard fan however. You better be prepared to pause that daily coffee run to buy anything. Prices are a little steep; you’re definitely paying for brand recognition.
Girls of the 80s and 90s rocked the Lisa Frank in anyway possible. Just think about how much brighter these colors and designs made our world. And really, just the world.

I remember Lisa Frank folders and all the colorful accessories. In fact, when I was in 8th grade, these 2 girls were going to fight after school because Lisa Frank stole all the ideas from Hello Kitty! Lisa Frank vs. Hello Kitty. I couldn’t care less because I had PeeChee folders cause I was poor. LOL
