Album Covers – Where Are They Now?

Earlier this week, the passing of the stuntman who was the “burning man” on Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” album trended all over the Internets. And why not? It was an iconic album cover and if you were a rocker back in the day, you probably owned the record (you kids call that “vinyl”).

But that got me thinking, “sure this is newsworthy and even relevant to me, a Gen X rocker, but why is this particular happening trending when there’s so much else going on?”

So I did a little digging to see how some of the other iconic album covers are doing. What you’re about to read may shock you.

Does anyone know what happened to the nurse? Do you even care that she was fired for not learning the Covid dance routine?

Few know that Bruce Springsteen’s ass ended up working at a gas station in Edison, New Jersey.

The Naked Guy on Rush’s “Hemispheres” tragically died from Pneumonia on a publicity tour in Alberta. Ironically, Suit Guy had a successful second career as a Chippendale’s dancer. Crazy how life turns out.

And who could forget Iron Maiden’s very own Eddie? You, apparently. Despite pursuing many vocations on many Maiden album covers, he ended up destitute after blowing his residuals on iDeath, a dotcom startup in 2000.

We don’t discuss this one in polite company.

This guy? He got Lasik and says it’s the best thing he’s ever done for himself. The headaches are all gone.

Album covers used to be so cool. Rush’s were almost all designed by a gentleman named Hugh Syme., IIRC.

The Eddie ones were always unique.

Album art should make a comeback. LPs and Vinyl are on getting big again.

    2. Yes! Remember the joy of bringing a new record home and studying the cover and liner notes for hours?
