Welcome aboard! This time on RAF I think I may have a theme. Usually, I just go where the internet takes me, but today? There’s a theme. Entertainment. Now this won’t be completely random due to the theme, so there is a bit of false advertising, but I’m prepared to answer the angry emails and comments.
Right out of the gate, I want to tip my cap to a wonderful review (or 2) of Lanterns in HBO. Gary from Nerdrotic really made a great video. Check this out. It’s worth a watch and I would back him up 100% on every point he made.
Here’s a random one for ya: Jordan Peterson on the power of music. I watched this one the other night and couldn’t wait to include it in a post. Again, I think this fellow might be on to something here.
Music is the great connector. It is a wonderful complex pattern that brings massive amounts of shared joy. Your Honor, exhibit A, B and C:
And I can’t leave my own review of Lanterns out of this. Someone or some group of someone’s really doesn’t like heroes. They feel the need to undercut or kill of almost all of America’s cultural heroes.
Now what happens when Hollywood actually gives the viewers a hero who’s not a total idiot? People love it. They line up in droves.
I haven’t seen the movie, it could very well suck, but my point remains the same. When you present a ‘hero’, a guy that is willing to go it alone and do the right thing, audiences like it. That story always connects. So why oh why do they undercut almost every hero? Its Wolverines turn to get undercut now in the new game.
Woke isn’t gone. It’s still very much alive and it’s coming for entertainment, still. If it could take over music? It would. Thank the lord for good music. It just might be the last one standing.
