Writer, comedian and part-time guitarist Michael Loftus on the whole data center thing. What do they do? How many jobs? Who gets all the money? All these questions and plenty of commentary. Let’s talk about AI, the cloud, and yeah, the big data center push. It seems like a bit much.

This week while watching my favorite show Gutfeld! I was shocked that Greg did his monologue on the fact that data centers were good for communities. I don’t think he ,Tyrus or Michael Malice would like to open the front door to their homes and see that cyber monstrosity across a field or street on top of the horrendous noise it makes. Tanya Tucker and Willie Nelson are fighting them in Texas. Tucker who owns part of a ranch that has been in her partners family for over two generations,is fighting the expansion of electrical towers and wires that would send power to these data centers and other businesses that would cut a path through their ranch disrupting their business, wildlife and their way of life. There are no statues in Texas that can stop the state from doing the project because of the need for more electricity which will surely raise electricity costs for everyone. I certainly don’t want one in my community and I know you don’t either. I think there needs to be a moratorium on these until they could figure out an Area 51 scenario out in the desert or other desolate places that would isolate these wretched buildings from blighting our neighborhoods. Loved the video.
And what great boon does society get from these things? What is the wonderful advantage of more data storage on the ‘cloud’ which is just a giant computer that we don’t own? And what happens to all the people who don’t have a job due to AI? What is the upside to any of this for us?

Been trying to stay away from computers, phones & tvs. I just get so MAD about the state of our planet and all the ugliness.
However, I did want to comment on these ‘data centers’.
What good are these data centers when we have an outdated electrical grid? If our electrical grid goes to crap, will all those data centers be useless? Doesn’t it seem like we are getting the cart before the horse? Fix our energy grid FIRST!!
