Grand Theft Auto VI and… Keith Richards? Sure. Why not? Check this out.

Here’s the bit of music news that has me swinging back and forth between ‘WTF?’ and ‘Good for you!’ There’s a Grand Theft Auto VI album coming out and Keef want’s us to buy it. Yeah, the official X account for the Rolling Stones guitarist and songwriter, Keith Richards is out here pimping the GTA 6 album.

Yup. Now, my initial reaction was ‘just how much money do these guy need?’ I’m sure GTA was paying top dollar for the song and the post about the album. That had to be a good hunk of change for Keef and the fellas. After that wore off, I had to look up the song. “Bright Lights, Big City”. That’s the tune that Keith recorded a version of for the game. Guess what? It’s pretty fuggin good.

“Bright Lights, Big City” was first recorded in 1961 by the legendary bluesman, Jimmy Reed. You should get familar with that dude. The Jimmy Reed shuffle. The song has a great swing to it. Massive amounts of goodness.

The Rolling Stones covered it in 1963! And now we have Keith’s version. The dude is making some more coin from the GTA 6 people, and I am cool with that. Long live rock and roll. Especially the roll. Here’s Keef’s version of ‘Bright Lights, Big City’. And some additional goodness.

It would be a crime if I didn’t include the original track from Jimmy Reed. That shuffle is killing me I love it so much.

Now I’m going to add this last one for fun and for anyone who wants to go down the ‘Sell out’ route. The Stones have a glorious track record of making money. It’s in their blood and I have no problem with stuff like this. They wrote a jingle of Rice Krispies. And it’s awesome too! LOL
