We’ve noticed a very disturbing trend in the last few years: the government spying on journalists. We’re not okay with that. Nobody should be. Left, right or center. Quite frankly, it should be completely unacceptable and outrageous. Which it is! If you saw it in a movie you’d be flipping out. So, why aren’t you flipping out when it’s happening in real life?!

Let’s put all our feelings about journalism aside for a moment and just discuss what journalism is supposed to do. It’s meant to be a safeguard. It is meant to shine the bright light of truth onto situations where we are being manipulated and lied to. We need honest, brave journalist who are truth-tellers. They will help us make informed decisions. Our Republic relies on honest reporting. We need it. Now more than ever.

That is why this habit of the government spying on Journalists is so deeply troubling. We cannot allow this to continue. You know this to be true. So, let’s not stand idly by and let it continue. Let’s get loud. Let’s call for investigations into who is doing this. Let’s shine some sunlight of our own onto this very dangerous practice that is so attractive to the powers that be.
