These days, it very en vogue to shoehorn different genders or races to play roles traditionally attributed to (evil) white men. Lady Ghostbusters and Hamilton being the highest profile examples. It’s great for Hollywood clout and generates the predictable negative attention that our current culture thrives on.

By now you may have heard that Netflix’s series Vikings will now feature a female of color as a Viking ruler. Named for a real (evil) white man, Jarl Haakon, this brave new re-imagining will surely broaden the Norse action genre’s appeal to people of color who loved Norse action films but never felt they could see themselves in it.

Why do I write about this? For the same reason I write every Loftus Party article – the mockery and memes!
