Well, hello there. So, you’ve decided to click on the ‘why you need to start watching Andor’ story. Good for you. Glad you’re here. Maybe you’re a Star Wars fan and you want to hear my reasoning. Maybe you’re just someone who is curious as to what the hell an ‘Andor’ is. Either way, it’s all good. This is a simple article about quality entertainment. That’s what Andor is first and foremost. It’s a really good TV show. Hell, I’d say it’s a great TV show. And bonus? It’s set in the Star Wars universe.
Yes, it’s on Disney plus. Yes, the other Disney Star Wars shows were really quite bad. Book of Boba Fett was an insult to the intelligence of even the most casual viewer. The much-anticipated Obi Wan Kenobi was a how-to manual for bait and switch TV. They should have called it ‘Young Leia’ or ‘The Reva Show’. And again, the writing was subpar to put it nicely. Even the Mandalorian struggles to not feel like a cartoon at times. Is it too much to ask for a Star Wars show that doesn’t treat the audience like 8 year olds? Can we get a show that’s a teeny bit smart and believes in showing rather than telling? The answer is yes! It’s Andor. Smartly written and wonderfully directed, this isn’t just a great Star Wars show, it’s great television! With most episodes legitimately looking a feeling like a feature film.
Star Wars fans have been clamoring for a show like this. So, they had better watch and support it. Andor hasn’t been burning up the streaming charts. Maybe it’s the title? Maybe it’s poor name recognition. Who knows? All I can say is the show its miles above anything else Disney Star Wars has done to date and if viewers don’t show up? Smart shows like Andor won’t get on the air anymore. All you’ll get is more fan service garbage that turns beloved Star Wars characters into cartoons. The choice is yours.
