Maybe you caught my recent video on Disney Star Wars Ahsoka. I hadn’t seen the show yet and was pondering whether or not Ahsoka could save Star Wars. The Critical Drinker is certain the show can’t. Ouch. As a fan, you always hold out hope. And as a writer, you realize, it’s not that hard. It really isn’t. You have to care about the subject matter and respect the intelligence of the audience. Hopefully Ahsoka showrunner Dave Filoni would be more than capable. That was the hope when I made my video.
Well, now the show has premiered on Disney Plus. I watched the first episode. Yup. And before we get to the critical drinker’s review of episode one and two, I’d like to say something nice. The music is good. Rosario Dawson is a great bit of casting… Did I mention the music? It’s really good. Now it’s criticism time. Stop with the bullshit map side quests. Get a better hook. Stop thinking we care about characters from Star Wars Rebels. We don’t. I’m a Star Wars fan and never watched an episode. Zero shits are given about anyone from that show. Ezra is alive?! What?! What does that mean?! I don’t know and I don’t care. And finally, the big one from me: How many fucking Jedi are left? Hundreds? Thousands? Every other person in these Disney shows is a fucking Jedi. And you can’t turn around with running into a Sith. They’re everywhere. It’s madness. The force is just super pedestrian in a time when no one supposedly has the force. WTF? But enough from me. Let’s get into fine review of Ahsoka from The Critical Drinker.
