Have You Discovered ATEEZ Yet?

ATEEZ has just dropped the first teaser for their latest music video for “Ice On My Teeth”. The song comes out Friday, Nov. 15 to coincide with their 11th mini album Golden Hour: Part 2.

It’s part Peaky Blinders, part gothic romance horror and part Godfather, and we get this from only 30 seconds worth of visuals.

This is how ATEEZ works, and what makes them stand out from every other K-Pop group performing today. I won’t get into their history too much, but I will say from someone whose daughter discovered them six years ago when they first debuted, it was a hard-earned fight to get where they are now.

They had music stolen, weren’t from from a big entertainment group, and some thought they were a short-lived musical experiment. Yet their collective fanbase (ATINYs) around the globe grew, and not just from K-Pop lovers. Those who love metal, punk, Latin and other world beats, hip-hop and more begin to stumble upon their darkly beautiful storytelling. They knew these guys were something special…and often chaotic.

Their albums include a complex lore of overthrowing totalitarian, dystopian governments, jumping into parallel universes better than any current Marvel story, and celebrating music, art, dance and freedom of expression. There is meaning behind everything from the hourglass to the Anarchy symbols in their videos. Look at the words and story behind their hit “Halazia” from 2022:

Plus, they are all massively talented entertainers, with a live show that looks like a Fritz Lang directed a Broadway musical. I drove five hours to see these guys, and have never seen anything like them in any genre.

Mostly, they are just a lot of fun.

Currently, they are the first K-Pop boy band to make it to Coachella and the first K-Pop group to headline the second largest music fest in the world, Mawazine in Moracco. Talk of them being the first K-Pop group to do a Super Bowl halftime have been tossed around. “A-Lister” hanger-ons want to be seen with them, and fashion leaders want them as ambassadors.

Even if you don’t have any interest in K-Pop, I highly suggest checking out ATEEZ. You might as well, because I think you are going to be seeing a lot more from them in the future.
