Twin Towers in TV & film. The beloved skyline we grew up with.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since September 11, 2001. Most of us can still tell you exactly where we were when the news first broke of a plane hitting the Twin Towers.

What a lot of us also remember is the skyline before that morning. For nearly three decades the Twin Towers weren’t a memorial. They were just New York. Two shimmering towers in the background of every establishing shot.

We’ll never forget that day. But we can still honor the buildings the way a generation first met them… on screen, in the movies, and on the TV we grew up with. Standing tall like they always had.

Here are some of those scenes (and some of my favorites), plus a few beautiful photos of the World Trade Center as it lived in pop culture.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Trading Places

Superman

The Simpsons: The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson

So cool!!

King Kong

I know there are plenty more movies and TV shows that have used this majestic skyline featuring the Twin Towers to set the scene. Which ones do you remember?!
