Movie Reviews – The Real Entertainment

Let’s face it, you haven’t seen a good movie or series come out of Disney+ or Disney for that matter in a while. You’ve been subjected to the Star Wars Prequels and whatever that crapfest was that followed.

Movies makers and indeed the whole entertainment industry is under pressure to put representation and messaging above that silly little thing.. what’s it called? Oh yeah, entertainment.

But don’t despair! In the age of the Internet and citizen content producers, there is so much entertainment in the act of reviewing and/or mocking entertainment.

Let’s start with the pioneers in the field. Red Letter Media blazed the trail with their hilarious trilogy of reviews of the prequels which were as long as the movies. Told through a fictitious old perv by the name of Mr. Plinkett, we are treated to an expert analysis of that cinematic miscarriage interspersed with a disturbing kidnapping drama – and pizza rolls. Start here.

Let the hate flow through you.

As you laugh your butt off, you also get the satisfying feeling of paying George Lucas back for raping your childhood. They do frequent movie reviews under their “Half in the Bag” episodes.

Rising star, Ryan George has his own unique take on movie reviews – he makes the sales pitches. The dialogue between Ryan George the writer and Ryan George the studio exec is comedic timing at its best and like RLM, gives accurate and insightful analysis of the movie and general industry silliness.

Disney+ Woke but not yet broke

After seeing the Hawkeye pitch, YouTube autoplayed another highly amusing critic. Nerdronic is clearly a right-leaning character. I take that back, plenty of left-leaners are getting sick to death of wokeness being the driver behind crap content. Hawkeye, apparently is a bait-and switch gurl-power vehicle with little love for the source material.

Finally, if you like entertaining right-leaning reviews but love a good Scottish accents, you must check out The Casual Drinker. Listening to TCD is like hanging out with a drunk Scotsman in a pub as he regales you with the movie he saw last week.

You can’t get your $12 back, but you can get the last laugh with some of these excellent critics.
