Gen Z Girls Growing Out Their Body Hair. Sexy? Empowering? Nope.

Here we go with this boring ass story again. It rears its ugly head about every six months or so. Some girl somewhere says she’s going to stop shaving and a news outlet runs with it. This time it’s the Post. https://nypost.com/2022/03/02/gen-z-gals-on-growing-out-body-hair-its-sexy-and-empowering/

You can hear the girl in the article now: I’m not shaving my pits or legs or anything else because I think it’s sexy or empowering or some bullshit. Here’s one from the post –

Brooklyn native and artist Chanté Glover, 29, said that when they first started growing out her body hair in 2016, they felt “pretty alone in my friend group.”

Now, however, Glover finds the change “empowering.”

“I actually got to a place of really loving it,” said Glover, who added that they’ve received an outpouring of support from friends and followers online. “There’s no shame in what we are and embracing what we are. I find [having body hair] to be a sign of confidence and adulthood.”

A sign of confidence? I’m confident it’s nasty. I’m confident that having hairy pits is in no way empowering. And what message are you trying to send by being hairy? That you’re strong? Is that what hairy armpits represent? If so, how about you take those hairy pits and do some strong stuff? Get a job as a welder or a roofer? Any kind of job that requires physical labor! You pick! Get your hairy ass out there and start hanging drywall! Look at you, you got hairy armpits! So strong! But hour not strong are ya? You’re a model. A model that stands around all day taking photos. So, congrats on growing your hair out. That’s all you got. Hair. This shit doesn’t work like Sampson. You certainly aren’t more powerful. Not at all.
