Space X will rescue Astronauts. Was that a tough decision to make?

What many felt was inevitable, was announced recently. Elon Musk’s Space X company and not Boeing will be sending a rocket to rescue the two astronauts stuck on the space station. It only makes sense. Space X seems to have a successful launch (and retrieval) of their rockets like every other week. The consistency is insane! Meanwhile Boeings ‘Starliner’ rocket and systems appear to be plagued with problems.

Problems that get people stranded on a space station. And that’s actually the good scenario. No one blew up. (Just a reminder that we’re dealing with rockets) So when it came time to figure out how to rescue the astronauts, we figure that was an easy decision to make. Send Space X and a Dragon spacecraft.

We have to think the two souls on the ISS are pretty pleased with the choice as well. Although the scheduled rescue mission date is months away. Yeah, months. Their 8-day space mission has turned into months. It’s like an updated version of Gilligan’s Island. At least help is on the way though. And we get to learn a valuable lesson: Competition is good. We want more competition. You end up with a better product that is more beneficial and cost effective. We’re thrilled that so many companies are in the space race. Space X, Boeing, Amazon, Virgin Galactic. It is all good. Humanity needs to be multi-planetary as soon as possible.
