Hilarious scenes from ‘Scrooged.’ Because we don’t want to scare the Dickens out of people.

‘Tis the season once again, and once again it’s time to throwback to what I consider another holiday classic, Scrooged. In the spirit of the season, feel free to check out my very first Christmas movie throwback, memorable scenes from A Christmas Story, here.

Scrooged, directed by Richard Donner, is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. But this time around, a bit crass, humorous, witty, touching moments to make you tear up, and even some slapstick strewn about. The movie came out in 1988 and is full of plenty of star actors and comedians of the time. It has held its ground for many decades now. And it’s found either hilarious, or preposterous. But either way, the movie isn’t going anywhere. To be honest, I feel just keeps getting better and better, year after year.

This Christmas, let’s take a look at some of my favorite and most memorable moments in Scrooged. “Your life might just depend on it.”

I’ll have an eyeball too.

I can’t stop laughing every time I watch this insanity. For instance, the freakout over the eyeball in the glass resulting in a correction of grammar. At this point, Frank Cross has already been informed he will be visited by 3 ghosts. So he’s now running under the assumption it has begun. Just priceless. And did you know, the part where he slips and falls at the doorway… He actually did slip and fall on the water, and just played it off. The cherry on top!

IBC Christmas Eve lineup.

Given the fact that is this how the movie begins, you are either like WTF am I watching? Or buckling up for a good time. It’s the ultimate setup for things to come. The ridiculousness of “psychos seizing Santa’s workshop” and only Lee Majors can save it. “The Night the Reindeer Died.” Why hasn’t this show been made yet in real life? I would also be down to watch Robert Goulet sing Christmas carols in the swamp! And embarrassingly enough, I was today years old when I got the “Father Loves Beaver” joke. It’s a Christmas miracle! Making the case that the movie just keeps getting better and better, year after year.

But this is a Christmas show!

This is one of many slapstick scenes that will always get a chuckle. “Make sure her nipples are covered up, will ya?”

And then the guy actually places her limp hands on her chest.

Meanwhile, this poor lady continues to get beat up throughout the film. Which makes it even funnier! Later on she’s hit with a rolling barrel. Then, a wall from the set collapses right on top of her. Talk about a bad day.

The Ghosts.

It’s hard to limit some of the most memorable scenes to only one ghost. The Ghost of Christmas Future doesn’t really have a personality, or a face. So we really can’t develop a relationship to this character. But of no concern since what we do have is David Johansen as the Ghost of Christmas Past, and the lovely Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present. And man oh man, do they knock it out of the park.

Or better yet, knock it with a toaster!

Shoutout to our very own Lisa Kay for this amazing artwork!

As the holiday season nears, and you need a good laugh plus a feel-good movie to watch, be sure to include Scrooged on your list. That is, if you haven’t already. And just in case you find yourself in an epic battle/family trivia game next week… “The S.S. Minnow. What was the ship that took them all to Gilligan’s Island? The S.S. Minnow.”

Have a very Merry Christmas!!

I love Scrooged! It’s on my Christmas movie lineup every year. The cast is top notch. So many hilarious scenes and you picked some excellent ones. The restaurant scene is one of favorites. David Johansen as the Ghost of Christmas Past and Carol Kane as the Ghosts of Christmas Present were fantastic. The nipples line makes me laugh out loud everytime. Thank you this fun article. Shoutout to Lisa Kay for the cool artwork. Serena, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

It’s so true!! Seriously gets funnier every year. And so embarrassed to just now be getting some of those “not-so-clean” jokes. Better late than never! 😉
