Star Wars fan films are nothing new. People have been making them for a long time. Good stuff too! However, The Battlefield is different. This is the second short from AFK. It is part of their ‘For the Empire’ series which are all made using the Unreal Engine.
As we’re reported before the Ureal Engine is a world building software, and it is free. You can create any environment you can imagine. Just take the tutorial online (free) and start building (also free) and you can make your own 3-D, camera ready environment. Insane. This is the future, kids. Anyone can make whatever they want. If you’re a filmmaker and you need a location? Unreal. Need rain? Unreal. Need fucking Tatooine? Unreal. No giant studio budget required. Just a desire to make it. We live in crazy times. It’s fantastic.
